Paris TV show bans 9-year-old named 'Islam'

PARIS: A nine-year-old boy called Islam allegedly excluded by a French television production company from its programmes because of his name, according to reports. His mother, Farah Alaouchiche, said the boy had been told at Angel Productions that his name "represented a religion that was not liked in France". Islam had gone with his parents, who have Algerian nationality, to the company's offices in February for the final stage in a selection process to take part in a youth programme called In ze boite (In the box).
